Learn what Save The Aurora Reservoir has been working on over the past month.
Itโs been one month since the Energy & Carbon Management Commission (ECMC) local public hearing on May 16. What have we been up to during that time?
While we prepare for the final ECMC hearings on the Lowry Ranch comprehensive area plan (CAP), we have been busy organizing meetings and filing paperwork with state and county authorities on behalf of Save The Aurora Reservoir (STAR) members.

This behind-the-scenes work can sometimes be tedious, but the results are worth it. We also remain dedicated to spreading awareness about the effects that fracking the Aurora Reservoir will have throughout the Front Range and beyond.
Below is a brief list of milestones achieved this spring.
1
Filed a petition with the ECMC to be considered an affected party that would be uniquely impacted by the Lowry Ranch CAP.
โ This is the first time any group of individuals has applied for Affected Party status as part of a CAP hearing process.
2
Filed an environmental justice complaint with the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment and followed up with additional documentation from qualified experts.
โ This is the first time a group has filed an environmental justice complaint with the state since the passage of the Colorado Environmental Justice Act.
3
With the support of the Getches-Green Natural Resources, Energy, and Environmental Law Clinic, continued to participate in the ECMC cumulative impacts rulemaking process.
4
Created and delivered a petition signed by more than 600 individuals to demand full public hearings on all Lowry Ranch well pad applications that have been submitted to Arapahoe County.
5
Spoke with reporters at the Denver Gazette, Fox 31 TV, and KOA Coloradoโs Morning News Radio to help create public awareness of the Lowry Ranch fracking proposal and its risks.
6
Distributed English- and Spanish-language flyers to those enjoying the Aurora Reservoir swimming beach on Memorial Day weekend, further promoting community awareness and engagement.
