What’s next for STAR?

A diverse group of community members visit different stations at the STAR open house.

Thank you to supporters who attended the STAR Open House Sunday! We enjoyed the opportunity to have meaningful one-on-one conversations with new residents and members from neighboring communities. Those in attendance shared their concerns, their talents, and suggestions for future collaboration with STAR. We are inspired to be working together to achieve our goal.

Many of those who attended asked, “What is our current goal, now that the Lowry Ranch CAP has been approved?” Remember that each well pad must be approved separately by Arapahoe County and then again by the Colorado Energy and Carbon Management Commission. To date, Civitas has not been granted permission to begin construction of any new well pads in Lowry Ranch.

What are we fighting for?

STAR is committed to protecting our reservoir and surrounding communities through efforts at the state and county level. We continue to be concerned about the proximity of well pads to homes and schools, as well as the lack of emergency preparedness plans to help prevent loss of property and life in a worst-case scenario. We are actively participating in state and county rulemaking conversations to influence the criteria by which each future well pad application will be judged, and we will continue to make sure we have a seat at the table to advocate for our members.

How can you contribute to STAR’s ongoing efforts?

Together we have accomplished what we once thought was not possible, a seat at the table in this ongoing process. Sign up below to join us. If you have other ideas in ways you can help that are not listed, leave a comment or reach out via direct message. We need as many volunteers as possible to succeed in our next phase!
